Mohamed El-Shanrawi announces the start of a new competition for orphaned children in Egypt.


 The competition of Mohamed Ibrahim El-Shanrawi for the memorizers of the Holy Quran has started, which is held in the centers of Bba, El-Fashn, and Samasta in the south of Beni Suef Governorate, with prizes exceeding one million pounds. The competition includes the participation of nearly 10,000 Quran memorizers in coordination with the Directorates of Endowments, Social Solidarity, Youth, and Sports in Beni Suef. It is supervised by a group of distinguished professors from Al-Azhar in a unique event. The preliminary qualifiers of the competition have begun to select 450 contestants from among the thousands of applicants to enter the final qualifying stage, which will be held under the supervision of senior professors from Al-Azhar. After that, the final qualifiers will take place to announce the victory of 150 contestants, with 50 contestants from each of the three centers (Bba, El-Fashn, Samasta).


Regarding the competition, Mohamed Ibrahim El-Shanrawi, the chairman of the Board of Trustees of the organizing institution, confirmed that the competition is part of the celebrations of the holy month of Ramadan, along with a number of distinguished events that accompany this blessed month. An agreement has been reached with the organizing supreme committee for this exceptional event and competition on three levels: the first level is memorizing the entire Holy Quran, where the age of the contestant should not exceed 21 years. The second level is memorizing half of the Holy Quran, with a maximum age limit of 16 years for the contestant. The third level is memorizing a quarter of the Holy Quran, with a maximum age limit of 12 years for the contestant. The prizes will be an Umrah trip for some winners from the top centers and monetary prizes starting from 10,000 pounds for the remaining winners.

He added that the committee has decided to award an Umrah trip to the world-renowned reciter Sheikh Nadi Saad Jabr Mohamed, who is 18 years old and hails from Samasta city in Beni Suef Governorate. He won second place in the repeated competition of Dubai International Holy Quran, in its 25th edition (Silver Jubilee), which was held at the Symposium of Culture and Sciences in Dubai. He was honored by President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi during the celebration of Laylat al-Qadr organized by the Ministry of Endowments.
